A romantic visit to the Municipal Rosegarden of Rome

Imagine ancient Rome in the days when the Circus Maximus was the center of the celebrations of the city. Imagine it filled with people dressed in festive bright colors sacrificing honey and milk to the goddess Flora during floralia, spring festival dedicated to her.
Times have changed and, where once stood the temple dedicated to the goddess of flowers next to the Circus Maximus, on the side of the Aventine, now stands the Municipal Rosegarden of Rome who succeeded to the orchards, of the sixteenth century, and which continues to testify the fertility of slopes of the southernmost of the famous seven hills of Rome.
The project was born thanks to the interest of the Countess Mary Gailey Senni, passionate lover of botany. Thanks to the obstinacy of the woman, in 1932 opened to the public the rosegarden of Colle Oppio, destroyed during the war. From the ashes of that project, the Municipal rosegarden of Rome resources in the current location and became a jewel of botany. Today you can admire more than 1,000 species of roses, from classical to the most exotic.
A trip to the romantic city of Rome is not possible without a visit to the Municipal Rosegarden.
And, to cap off a day of beauty, after a walk on the Aventine, you can enjoy a meal in one of the most romantic restaurants in Rome, with views over the rooftops of the Eternal City.
The Municipal Rosegarden of Rome is located in via di Valle Murcia, 6, near the Circus Maximus.
From 28 April to 27 June 2012, the Municipal Rosegarden in Rome is open during following hours: daily, including holidays, 8:00 to 19:30.
The 18 and May 19 the Rose Garden will be closed to the public for the conduct of Premio Roma, an international flower competition.
Vatican Tour: A Visit to the Vatican Gardens

The summer is finishing but this isn’t a good reason to remain at home waiting the next year.
The months before of the winter are perfect to do a special Romantic Weekend in Rome, in fact the characteristic roman sultriness is there anymore and the cold is not yet arrived, In other words, in this period there is right weather to do a romantic weekend in Rome to go for a walk with own girlfriend.
Concerning the morning activities that you can do in Rome, we suggest the classic touristic places like Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, St. Peter’s Basilica, the Vittoriano, Vatican museums or Capitolini museums, therefore you will not have trouble to find something to do.
In the evening, on the other hand, we suggest a refined and elegant place and mostly a place it isn’t rush-in-rush-out tourist area. For a excellent romantic dinner in Rome, maybe there is no better place that the Terrazza Paradiso, in fact here you can have a dinner in a wonderful roof garden which overlooks on St. Peter’s Basilica. 3° Day – Rome Center
If during the second day you had prefer visit contemporary Peter’s Basilica, Castel Sant’Angelo and Vatican Museums in this third day you can go for a walk through the Rome center streets. The base will be Piazza del Campidoglio where you can visit Capitoline museum, after you move towards Via del Corso and stop off in Trevi fountain, Piazza di Spagna and Piazza del Popolo, at this point go up to Pincio (Villa Borghese) and here you enjoy with the landscape.
4° Day – The Roman’s greatest
For the last of four days in Rome we suggest to start from Ara Pacis Augustae, that is monument dedicated to Augustus emperor and to peace that reigned over Empire (Pax Agustea). The monument is locate in the Richard Meir’s reliquary that has criticized because it considered too much invasive. However, here you can visit the museum homonymous where there are archeological finds of the period. Rome itinerary in 4 days (1° Part)

1° Day – Ancient Rome

2° Day – Papal Rome
In the second day we suggest to visit the places linked with ecclesiastic sovereignty, so the most important are St. Peter’s Basilica, Castel Sant’Angelo and Vatican Museums even if in this last case would be better if you’ll visit the Vatican Museums in a another day because they are very big. Angels and Demons tour

We have wanted to call this tour “Angels and Demons tour” like homonym Dan Brown’s novel because in this tour we’ll trace all Rome holy places which have become famous thanks the novel and the movie with Tom Hanks. It will be a new way to know the Papal Rome thanks a special tour, obviously we suggest to a hotel in center of Rome because tha tour is very intense.
So, like newly Robert Langdon in the Angels and Demons Tour we’ll trace the “The Road to enlightenment”, that is the initiate’s path which novice must did before he could became member of sect.
If you’ll do the Angels and Demons tour you’ll see the Santa Maria del Popolo and Santa Maria della Vittoria churches, in this last you can find religious ecstasy fire altar. After we’ll direct ourselves to Piazza Navona to admire the Bernini’s four rivers fountain and the last but not the least we’ll see Castel Sant’Angelo and its crypts.
Obviously the Angels and Demons tour wouldn’t seem such itself if we didn’t saw the most representative novel place, that is Piazza San Pietro, were we’ll admire the Sistina chapel and apostolic palace. At this point we have nothing more to do than to muster up the courage and to get this adventure.

2° Day – How to spend three days in Rome
For the second we suggest the Papal Rome tour, that is a visit to all the buildings and the monuments about Vatican City. In order, St. Peter’s Basilica, Castel Sant’Angelo and Vatican Museums, all these places are easy to reach by foot. If you‘ll accommodate in this hotel in center of Rome, you can see the dome of St. Peters’s Basilica by your room window, so is enough you go down to arrive to feet of The Pity of Michelangelo. Don’t think that this day it isn’t intensive, only for the Vatican Museums you need half day to visit, in fact we recommend to get up very early because the line is long just at 9:00 o’clock.
3° Day – How to spend three days in Rome
For the third and last day we suggest to take relaxing walk. So start from Navona square, emblem of Baroque Rome, here you can admire the Bernini’s fountain (The four rivers), and the buildings Braschi, Lancellottu, Pamphilj e Tuccimei. Cross Corso Vittorio Emanuele II and arrive in Piazza Campo de Fiori, there start to walk in the narrow streets of the center of Rome until the “speaker” statue Pasquino in via del Governo Vecchio, Here finish our tour How to spend three days in Rome.
How to spend three days in Rome (1° Part)

How we have promised we go on about Rome tours. Today, we’ll show how to spend three days in Rome thanks a well organized itinerary, thought to all who have little time but want however know Rome. Obviously if you stay in Rome only a week-end we tell you that the tour will be at a fast pace so we suggest this hotel in center of Rome in this way you’ll not waste your time.
1° Day – How to spend three days in Rome
We suggest that you start with the symbol of the city, that is Colosseum, which is also called Flavian Amphitheatre because it was built by two member of Flavian dynasty. Thanks the inside visit you’ll can know the real history and a lot of curiosity about the greatest bowl of the ancient world. Now you can go to Tito Arch and admire it, enter in Palatino which is a open-pit museum. Walk in direction to Piazza Venezia through via dei Fori Imperiali, there you will find Vittoriano, a monumental complex which is dedicated at first king of Italy, Victor Emanuel II of Savoia.
You can glance at Vittoriano to see if there is a interesting art show exhibition. After a short break for the lunch, straight in via del corso, through the street in the center of Rome you can admire the Trevi fountain (Launch a coin, don’t forget!), Spain’s square with its “barcaccia” and for the last walk for the shopping street, Via dei Condotti, there in few steps you’ll find obelisk of People’s square if you turn on the right, here there are the twin church, Santa Maria in Montesanto and Santa Maria dei Miracoli.

Rome in one day: Papal Rome tour

We have to say that isn’t possible visit Rome in one day, there are so much monuments, museums and ancient building that it isn’t possible see everyone. In fact as the saying goes “To know Rome a life is not enough”.
Saying this we can organize tours which focalize on specific zone or quarters, so we make the most of the time we have. Hence, we start to realize a series of post which refers to “Rome in one day tours”. Obviously, if you do this type of tour, you won’t be able to say that you know Rome but at least you’ll be able to say that know a specific aspect.
Our first tour is Papal Rome Tour, that is we suggest to visit the Basilica San Pietro, Castel Sant’Angelo and if you want dedicate half-day you could visit also Vatican Museums, but in this case is better if you know that the visit will be at a fast pace.
With this type of tour you are able to see a lot of beauties like Michelangelo’s pity, Vatican crypt, Sistine Chapel, the statue of saints and imperators and obviously thousands of masterpieces in the Vatican Museums.
Obviously if you have less time to visit Rome the first step which you must will do is the plum of hotel in the center of the city. We suggest this hotel in Rome, which is away from the place we have mentioned only five minutes by feet.
