Cinema Exhibition Rome: Cinecittà Studios in Show

Not only Rock in Rome, but also Cinema thanks the new exhibition of Rome “ Cinecittà Studios in Show”. With the passing of the years the biggest cinema masters were refers to these studios, Monicelli, Fellini, Risi and Visconti and also all movie stars of the golden era of Italian cinema (called neo-realism) like De Sica, Tognazzi, Totò, Sordi e Manfredi.
But these people are only the well known faces of cinema, in the reality to realize a movie is necessary an endless number of people’s hard work, people like, editors, costume designers and makeup artists; and this exhibition in Rome wants pay homage to all the people behind the camera. Modern art museum Rome: Tamara de Lempicka

From March 10th until the 3rd of July the Vittoriano Complex, art museum in Rome, will celebrate with an exhibition Tamara de Lempika, known as the “Baroness painter“, modernist symbol of the instances of the Twenties and Thirties. A unique event which will see art museum in Rome hosts one of the most comprehensive exhibition on the polish painter, best known as the “Queen of the Modern“.
A unique painting style, bold colors and strong stroke, like her characters; this is Tamara de Lempicka, which she is still a model of a modern woman, whose power leak out from her works. A mirror of his way of being. Sensual portraits of women, men have cold look, the love of daughter, a world of actions and situations which, of course, you’ll love.

Pietro Cascella and the Planetarium exhibition in Rome at Aula Ottagonale

A wonderful exhibition in Rome will bind together till March 20th some artworks of one of the greatest Italian sculptors of the XX century, Pietro Cascella, with a wonder of the Roman ancient architecture, the Rotunda Diocletiani or Aula Ottagonale. The exhibition called “Pietro Cascella al Planetario. I segreti del cielo” took place the last 17 December to celebrate the Aula’s repairing with the shows of a great Italian sculptores, Cascella: the meeting of the two artistic elements it’s been allowed by the dome of the Aula Ottagonale that, lighted by a wonderful lighting system and studded by Cascella’s artworks, became a planetarium.

The artist himself declared his spiritual tie with the universe and firmament: in the occasion of the today exhibition said that creating was like questioning cosmos. He said also “The greatest ancient sculptors, was magicians, they talked with space, vastness and mystery. These are the sculpture reasons.” (more…)
Balla in Rome: exhibition at Nuova Galleria Campo dei Fiori

Till the end of December some Giacomo Balla’s young artworks will be hosted at Nuova Galleria Campo dei Fiori in Rome. This is an exhibition dedicated to the first period, the figurative one, of the great futurist painter. The young Balla’s artworks are the outcome of his first stay in Rome. The Balla’s paintings, dated from 1895 to 1902, represent hi s pre-futuristic inclination together with his almost expressionistic one. Balla who will be the most important representative of the Italian Futurism, return some popular figures of the early ‘900 roman’s life in its scratched and naked everyday scenes.

Here Balla shows the genes of his following development in painting. In these artworks of Rome Balla’s strokes are already free, flowing, withering in the figurative grace. The Balla’s painted character acts, hosted at Nuova Galleria Campo dei Fiori in Rome, are full of strength, energetic: they are able to shake the innovative photography of these painting and rewrite it in a new way. Gormley’s spaces at Macro in Rome

The first Gormley’s Italian graphic exhibition will be hosted till February 6th at Macro Roma Museum. Called Drawing Space, this exhibition is an unusual sculptor’s introduction to his visitors. The Museum director Barbero, who set up this exhibition, enjoyed himself interweaving a plot between Gormley’s sculptures and graphics as strictly dependent and absolute at the same time. The spontaneity of drawings contrast with the slow working of sculptures as Angel of the Nort, Habitat and Another Place.

The Gormley artworks can’t forget yet in its two-dimensional rendering his typical attention to the relationship between man and the space around him: internal space and external space, their dynamics and their mutual facing reaching proportion and its breaking point are the themes characterizing Gormley sculptures and the drawings hosted at the Macro Roma Museum. The Mansion (a 1982 artwork), arise again in the Macro’s rooms the paradoxical relationship between drawings and sculptures in the Gormley production. (more…)

A Photographic exhibition representing a folk memory in Rome

Starting from Saturday 4 of December 2010, a folk memory important exhibition will take place in Rome. It’s a photographical exhibition called “Lost Roots. Georgia 2008-2010”. Through his images and demonstrating his art and civil value, Guillermo Luna, at the Saint Anton Portuguese Institute of Rome, will tell us the dramatic consequences of the Georgian-Russian war on the population. It’s an important reminder for our memory: this is the situation in which everything is under our eyes but no one can see it because of the media omissions.

The exhibition value is not only in its artistic one but also in its humanitarian. At the Saint Anton Portuguese Institute, Rome will be a “present historical memory” place; the place of the gave-back voice for the population that saw it stolen. (more…)
An exhibition dedicated to Mario Schifano at MACRO of Rome

Till February 6th 2011 an exhibition dedicated to Mario Schifano, one of the most important painters of the Italian XX century, will take place in Rome at MACRO museum. The exhibition collects a big part of the artist materials coming from the Mario Schifano Foundation born in 2003.

The same materials are propose to the visitors as a labyrinthine route created by their hanging up fittings: as a matter of fact the curators purpose is to put the visitors into a thick and constant expressive flow made by images, alterations, reviews, resumption and returns. Then exhibitions wants to arise again the expressive strength that characterized all the Mario Schifano’s way of work thanks to the recreation of genetic universe starting from the artist essential materials. The genesis: photos and Polaroids. The media transformation of the medias in a inexorable expressive flow, the birth of the trans-media artist Schifano: images manipulations, illustration, lines and colors.
Invader: the Roman street art at he Wunderkammern exhibition centre

The Wunderkammern exhibition centre in Rome will host till Dicember 21th the Rome-dedicated artworks of the street artist Invader. After the invasion of a lot of international museums, galleries and cities, during this summer Invader got Rome with his street art, building an artistic tour inside the urban context: its map will be presented in the exhibition occasion at the Wunderkammern gallery.

The Art of Invaders is a sort of “interference” between a real world and a virtual one, between an everyday city area and the Arcade Game Space’s characters of the latest 70’s, called, as you know, invaders. Who can forget the long lasting battles against these aliens to save the space shuttle?
Invader will bring back to the today urban and life context the collective imaginary that marked a generation. Near this artworks the Wunderkammern gallery will present to the roman public the Invader’s RubikCubism works: Invader uses to revisit and expose some classical art masterpieces or some collective imaginary’s symbols built thanks to the connection of the Rubik Cube colored modules. Fotoleggendo: the Rome Photofestival

Fotoleggendo is a photographic yearly event taking place in Rome. The purpose of this photographic festival is to teach the young photographer to “read” photos, understand them and live the art of photography.

An exhibition by Antonio Nocera and Unicef at Mercati di Traiano in Rome

Till November 28th 2010 the wonderful scene of the Mercati di Traiano in Rome will host an exhibition under the patronage of UNICEF called “Oltre il Nido”.
The counterpoint produced by the monumental Traiano’s buildings will be the rhythm of the Antonio Nocera’s artworks exhibition. “Oltre il Nido” means “beyond the nest” : it wants to be a tribute to the image of the birth home, to the image of the atavistic characterization and affiliation place.
In the same time the word “beyond” reveal the intention of the curator Laura Fusco to include in the exhibition concept the idea of the nest’s abandon, the idea of the first flight, of the human physical-psychological experience of leaving somewhere, the idea of the exile and the idea of the research as two aspect of the same “going away” idea: this means “beyond nest” too.
