Colosseum Tour to know Rome

Colosseum RomeWhen you arrive in Rome, the Colosseum Tour is one imperative stage, in fact this is the most representative monument of the city, a timeless place which stands out against the sky, a majestic building which creates intense emotions at first glance. But before we do the tour of colosseum is better if we know also its details so we also will fall in love with its history.

The Colosseum was originally known like Flavian Amphitheatre that was due at fathers of the building. In 72 d.C Vespasiano imperator (gens Flavia) started the construction of the colosseum which finished only in 80 d.C. thanks his son, Tito imperator. Instead the origin of modern name has been due at presence of Nerone Colossus (reshape in Sun God) in the area, precisely in the atrium of Nerone Domus Aurea. Where once there was artificial lake of Domus Aurea now there is Colosseum.
Like every roman amphitheatre it was used to gladiators show and other public manifestations like ancient games or comedy drama based on Greek mythology. But Colosseum shows important difference with the other amphitheatre that is its majestic, 527 m of circumference, 70.000 seats, the marbles white and statues.

The tour of colosseum is possible until one hour before the sunset (opening time change every month) and if you are looking a hotel in the vicinity we suggest this hotel in Rome center.
